JadEr 2.0 - travelling

From local to exotic

A permaculture learning path

  1. Terroir

It's on the move that our learners are introduced to the principles and techniques of permaculture.

The training locations are many and varied: in Luxembourg, Belgium and France, with possible internships with our partners (France, Switzerland, Spain, Brazil).

The advantage of this formula is that it allows you to discover several eco-locations and meet a diversity of actors and trainers committed to their unique and exceptional terroirs:

  • at Bergshaff (Beyren, Luxembourg), a ten-hectare permaculture plot run by biologist, permaculturist and writer Philippe Kieffer;
  • at Ferme du bout du Monde (Belgian Luxembourg), with Katy Fox, permaculture trainer and anthropologist;
  • at Äerdschëff, a center for sustainable development studies in Luxembourg (Rédange/Attert), with its educational manager, socio-anthropologist Tarik Bouriachi;
  • and at the Domaine des Rouges-Eaux, in the Vosges, on the site of our travelling school.

The 12 principles are studied and put into practice over 10 days of training.  spread over a 12-month period.

Methodological approaches

School and extracurricular context

Through the activities proposed by the project, International Baccalaureate (IB) students develop their CAS project  (Creativity Action Service), a central element of the diploma they are preparing.

Varied geographical context

The project is being developed in various eco-places in the Greater Region, in close collaboration with various permaculture players and their specific approaches.

As a result, participants are confronted with different ways of working together.

The project is also characterized by its commitment to networking.

Intercultural context

Both trainers and participants come from a variety of countries and cultures. It's an inter- and permaculture broth.

Regional and border context

The eco-locations hosting the project are located in Luxembourg, Belgium and France. The various players in the project create local and cross-border links.

International context

Abram develops  and runs parallel projects and structures in Europe and Brazil. In addition to initial permaculture training in Luxembourg and the surrounding area, the association offers international training courses in resourcing, environmental awareness, self-reliance and transitional agriculture.

Remarks

Target audience

To guarantee the quality of the training, the number of participants is limited to 20. A selection process is in place to ensure that candidates are motivated and serious.

Like its predecessor, this program is aimed primarily at young high school students living in Luxembourg, in particular those preparing for the CAS Project of the International Baccalaureate (IB) program.

However, the school's doors are open to anyone willing to commit themselves seriously and persistently to this long-term process. Depending on the number of places available, adults and families can also take part in long-term training.

This is a certifying course, which means that the most assiduous participants who complete the course and have their learning process approved by the trainers will receive a certificate of participation.

Training is given in French.
