Objectives
The aim of this program is to help students understand the importance of education and the consequences of illiteracy, and to help them discover possible courses of action.
At the end of the program:
Children understand that school provides them with the keys to a better understanding of the world in which they live.
Children understand that many children are deprived of basic education.
The children reflect on the obstacles that prevent some children from going to school, and what they could concretely do at their own level.
Program
There are 3 workshops, each lasting 2 hours. These workshops are part of a logical sequence and cannot be taken separately.
1st workshop: «What if I were illiterate?»
2nd workshop: «Education around the world»
3rd workshop: «Obstacles to access to education».»
Methodological approaches
The methods used include group work, discussions, film screenings and games.
Remarks
The 3rd workshop on barriers to access to education has been published as a board game under the name «Lekoli» and will be available from the NGO from mid-November 2012.
