mnhn.luOrganization visions

Naturmusée's ambition is to be a museum for everyone.
We aim to create an inspiring, inclusive and high-quality cultural and educational experience, actively contributing to Luxembourg's scientific, cultural and societal development. To achieve this, we intend to go well beyond the exchange with our general target audiences, and reach out to political, economic and societal players.
Our ambition is to become a trusted player in the understanding, preservation and protection of nature and our natural and cultural heritage.
We are committed to being a sustainable institution that takes up and anticipates the major challenges facing contemporary and future societies, such as climate change, the biodiversity crisis, the relationship between man and nature, migration, natural resources, growing skepticism towards science, citizen participation and environmental education.

Missions of the organization
The Naturmusée is a cultural and research institute on bio- and geodiversity dedicated to the creation, conservation and transmission of knowledge on natural history through its collections, original exhibitions and innovative and varied mediation programs.
The Naturmusée is a place for exchange, interaction, learning and social integration. We actively seek dialogue with our target audiences, inspire, awaken curiosity and share our passion for observing, understanding and respecting nature.
Naturmusée is committed to the future of the younger generation, offering authentic, high-quality educational programs.
The Naturmusée manages a nature archive. Our collections represent an inexhaustible source of information on the evolution of bio- and geodiversity over time. It is our responsibility to preserve, study and inform about these collections for future generations.
The Naturmusée takes stock of biodiversity and studies its networks, as well as its evolution and the reasons for its loss. Our missions encompass rational understanding of the world and its evolution over time, understanding and presenting the human species as one among many, promoting and investing in educational programs and innovative mediation, and putting societal issues into perspective.
The Naturmusée is a center of expertise, reference and excellence in geo-biodiversity, active both nationally and internationally.
Naturmusée is an environmentally responsible cultural institute. We apply the principles of sustainable development and integrate societal and environmental issues into our interactions with external stakeholders, as well as into the internal management of the updated site.

Almost all public awareness-raising activities take place in varying degrees of cooperation with public and private partners.
