A MOVEMENT OF PEOPLE

Amnesty International is a worldwide movement of thousands of people working to protect and promote universally recognized human rights.

Outraged by human rights abuses but driven by the hope of a better world, we are mobilizing to improve the human rights situation by campaigning and appealing for international solidarity.

Our members and supporters influence governments, political bodies, businesses and intergovernmental organizations.

Activists tackle problems by using the various media and means of communication, and by mobilizing public opinion. To do this, they organize large demonstrations or silent rallies, and intervene directly with the relevant players.
