BNE platform network

The BNE platform - a network for education in sustainable development

The BNE platform network, provided for in Luxembourg's 2012 ESD strategy, brings together non-governmental organizations, local administrations and institutions, teachers and educators and any individual interested in ESD around a common interest in ESD.

Participation in the network is free and open to all, with no administrative formalities. Membership of the BNE network is informal and can be taken on a personal basis.

Topics covered

The subjects covered are varied and cover Agenda 2030 objectives, l’development education, l’citizenship education, the North-South relations, the protecting natural resources, l’environmental and nature education, l’circular economy, etc.

Each member contributes his or her expertise in a specific field. Content is adapted to all audiences through :

  • l’formal education
  • l’non-formal education
  • l’informal education

 

Network objectives

  • support and promote ESD-related activities and events
  • facilitate exchanges experience and information between members
  • disseminate news via a monthly newsletter
  • organize joint projects BNE Days (formerly Foire BNE), Journée dans la nature, Formation Nature, ESD agenda, etc.
  • bring members together at the (bis)Annual General Meeting and in special thematic working groups
  • create international links, in particular with the Benelux and the Greater Region

 

Network management

The Ministry of the Environment, Climate and Biodiversity is responsible for network secretariat, newsletter and contact management, in collaboration with the management committee.

Collaboration with government departments

The BNE platform network complements the Interministerial Committee for Education for Sustainable Development, which brings together representatives from the ministries and calls on experts from the BNE network.
